Can PDFs be edited in Microsoft Word?

Question: Is there any way you can convert a PDF to a Word File for simple editing? --Sandy Ballance

Assuming that the author didn't set security options to prevent this, you don't need a plug-in. With Acrobat 5, just save as RTF. RTF stands for Rich Text Format, essentially a simplified Word format document. If your version of Word is relatively recent, it will recognize RTF as a native file format.--Mark Mansoor

While this may be good for capturing the text, the original formatting most likely will not be intact. For minor alterations, it's best to use plug-ins like PitStop and/or Quite a Box of Tricks. However, these may be expensive for infrequent use. For extensive editing, it's best to request the original document from the author in native format, do the changes, then remake the PDF.--David Burband
