Search
text with FSA or how to do file content search
Search text
with FSA. If you search text, you may find similar words with
different meanings (track, trail, home and so on...). But it takes
really much time, to open files one-by-one to find if that is really
what you need. FSA allows to
view the file as soon as it is found, not caring whether it is html,
doc, txt and even pdf file.
Why search files for text?
When you
collect a large amount of files on your computer while work, sometimes
it’s hard to find something necessary. If you search by keywords not
by filename, you may find similar words with different meanings
(track, trail, home and so on...).
To find out if
that is really what you need demands opening each file in a specific
editor (doc – Word, pdf – Acrobat Reader, html – Internet
Explorer and so on...). It takes really much time, for each program
needs few seconds to be loaded. Also it makes you tired and leads your
job to be non-productive.
This problem
would be solved if some
universal preview utility, allowing to view several file types,
existed.
Preview results when searching text in file
content
FSA allows to
view the file as soon as it is found, not caring whether it is html,
doc, txt and even pdf file.
FSA
outlines the
searching text with the Bold font and centers the
document on the found phrase, so you can at time compare the
document with what you really need. It’s especially
comfortable when you need to check a large number of files
of different types.

Moreover, when
you have previewed the document, you may copy some abstract directly
from the viewer and paste it anywhere you need.
If there are
several abstracts found in the whole document, FSA allows you to move
between some files and one file’s fragment using special buttons.
It’s quite easy and comfortable – “Next file” (moves to the
next file), “Next fragment” (moves to the next found abstract) and
just the same to the reverse direction – “Previous fragment” and
“Previous file”.
A
separate button, “Generate report”, makes the FSA to
generate html file where all found files and their
properties (path, size, hits) and the text abstract are
listed. It’s quite useful when you should communicate to
your colleagues, doing similar job, and with the help of
such reports you may share your work results.

Advanced users
may tune the FSA in such a way that if file is opened with a special
editor, the document would be opened on the demanded place where the
text is found.
